The announcement:

Dentsu Thailand announces today the appointment of Jon Chalermwong as Chief Creative Officer, effective immediately. In his role, Jon will oversee all creative communications across the agency’s client roster, and undertake the task of bringing creative performance to the next level.

Leveraging data and technology, he will lead the team to deliver the best creative solutions and business transformation for clients. Jon will also have a key role in further developing the agency’s creative talent.

Joining from VMLY&R Bangkok, where he was Deputy Chief Creative Officer, Jon created campaigns for international and local brands including BMW, Caltex, Watsons and Crystal Drinking Water. His work for Crystal Drinking Water set a new standard of marketing communication in Thailand’s water industry when the brand was named number one Thailand’s drinking water for the first time in 20 years.

Notably, Jon was a key player in putting Creative Juice\Bangkok and Y&R Thailand on the world creative map. Together with his teams, they brought home their first Cannes Gold Lion in 2005 and 2011 respectively. Jon will report to Narong Tresuchon, CEO Dentsu Thailand.

“We are very excited to welcome Jon to our team at Dentsu Thailand. He brings not only a strong focus on quality of creative business solutions, but also his valuable experience combining the power of business strategy with creative thinking. I believe that will give our clients a distinctive edge in today’s disruptive competition landscape,” said Narong.

“Jon’s appointment is Dentsu taking another step forward towards strengthening our talent bench to help our clients move people and business across the region. Jon is data, strategy, creativity and technology in one package. He is a great fit to the team as we continue to drive our commitment to delivering innovative business solutions,” commented Ted Lim, Chief Creative Officer, Dentsu Brand Agencies Asia Pacific.

On joining the team, Jon shared, “I’m excited to come on board the team at Dentsu Thailand and its brand partners. Dentsu’s capability is beyond communication – it is about media buying, content, business transformation, data, tech, social media, experience design and innovation. And creativity is at the heart of it all.

“As creatives, we take an idea and turn it into a reality. Ideas on the execution are just part of a consumer’s journey, and creativity should be integrated throughout the journey. I am ready to get started on this new journey,” he added.

Jon is a Thai creative veteran who is well known for his honest style of work. He believes that the trait of honesty placed at the core of a brand’s communication will win the hearts of consumers.
