Mother Shanghai launched following joint venture with Singapore agency TSLA
Singapore creative shop The Secret Little Agency and the United Kingdom-based independent agency Mother have formalised their strategic partnership in Shanghai. The joint venture will go by the name ‘Mother Shanghai’.
The deal had been in the works for a while now, with it first being spoken about back in October 2017.
Reports at the time indicated that Mother would acquire a majority stake in TSLA’s Shanghai office and a stake in the Singapore operation as well.
In a statement released at the time, TSLA founder Nicholas Ye had said: “We’ve had a crush on Mother for some time now.
“Mother doesn’t just create great work. They move culture. To do this sustainably, independently and together with friends from three other continents, is a future we’re definitely looking forward to.”
Mother’s Michael Wall had said: “The culture, outlook and ambition of Mother and The Secret Little Agency are uncannily similar. The one obvious difference is geography.
“We have been working on an informal basis for a little while now. It quickly became evident that as a bigger, joined up family we’d be able to offer our people and our clients even greater opportunities.”
Commenting on the joint venture announcement, Ye said: “In Mother, we’ve found a partner who like us, values the independence and agility to unleash our full creative potential for some of China and Asia’s most ambitious clients.”
Wall said: “We believe the time is now right for Mother to take its first step into China. We’ve met a generation of smart, creatively minded people who work and want to work in the way we do.”
Details on the management team and client list of Mother Shanghai will be announced in the next few weeks.

ReplyVague. So does this mean that TSLA shanghai no longer exist and will just be renamed Mother Shanghai?
