Auke Boersma made redundant at GroupM, as APAC head of supply role is reviewed
GroupM has made its Asia-Pacific head of supply Auke Boersma redundant because the scope and location of the role is being reviewed, Mumbrella understands.
A source within the agency network confirmed that it was a redundancy based on those two factors, but refused to offer any further comment.
Singapore-based Boersma had only been in the role for a year. Before that, he was APAC managing director of GroupM/Xaxis’ multi screen performance business Light Reaction.
Other past employers include the Netherlands-based loyalty marketing platform Scoupy, Videostrip – now known as SpotX – and Scoot media.
Between 2012 and 2015, he also ran his own business in ABC – Auke Boersma Consultancy.
Boersma is multilingual, speaking Dutch, English and German.
Describing himself on his LinkedIn profile, he said: “In recent years, I’ve broadened my skills across a range of business areas as a result of launching two start-ups. I realised that if I applied my commercial drive across other business areas it was a recipe for success.
“I enjoy motivating individuals to succeed and lead teams by example. I take a pragmatic and no nonsense approach to business, I thrive on growing revenues.
“Strong communicator – enjoy doing business across global markets having lead operation across EMEA and APAC.”
Think these blokes are a little [Edited under Mumbrella’s community guidelines] sure but NOT for a Japanese agency culture. I worked in Japan for years. The older gentlemen were revered as generals until they retired. Anybody who could survive that long is a very hard man. I think we know what’s going on here the headline is so apt. Good one on Mumbrella, reporting everything under the sun and rocks.
