Publicis Groupe Malaysia brings Kunal Roy on board as chief strategy officer

Kunal Roy is the new chief strategy officer for Publicis Groupe Malaysia. He was previously head of integrated strategy at Cheil India. The announcement comes close on the heels of Abraham Varughese being hired as chief creative officer.

Roy has worked across Sri Lanka, India and China through stints at agencies like BBDO, O&M and Saatchi & Saatchi X. His mandate extends across the creative and media agencies of Publicis Groupe.

Publicis Groupe Malaysia has appointed Kunal Roy as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Roy, who recently relocated from India, will be responsible to operationalize the Groupe’s purpose in driving transformation for clients. He will lead a team of strategists across Leo Burnett, Publicis Worldwide, Digitas, Publicis Emil, Publicis Media, Saatchi & Saatchi Arachnid and Alpha 245 to provide insight-driven solutions that cuts across business strategy and creative concept.

Roy has a rich experience of working with a diverse portfolio of clients across markets such as Asia Pacific, China, India and Sri Lanka. Roy’s career has been a journey of growth that has led him to experience diverse cultures and countries. He has spent 17 years in advertising, learning and leading strategy as well as creative. Over the years, he has worked across APAC leading Strategy & Creative at marquee advertising agencies like Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy, BBDO & TBWA.

Roy has won recognitions, both regionally and globally, for his work on various campaigns. He is also recognized for his thought leadership work in brands such as Samsung, Coca Cola, Adidas, Unilever, P&G, Standard Chartered Bank, Fonterra, NESTLE, Ministries of Tourism & Etihad Airways.

Roy will work closely and report directly to the CEO of Publicis Groupe Malaysia, Tan Kien Eng.
