The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Malaysia (4As) recently held its 14th Biennial General Meeting, with an election to determine its Council office bearers who will serve the not-for-profit industry body for the next two years.

Andrew Lee, Managing Director of Havas Immerse, was re-elected as the President for a second consecutive term, whilst Khaidi Kamaruddin was voted in as the new Vice President. He is also the founding partner of advertising and marketing agency Bulb Communique.

With more than ten years of experience in the advertising industry, Khaidi has also served as a 4As Council Member for four years, and is also noted for his involvement in the Putra Brand Awards.

“The 4As will continue to pursue its five primary goals which are providing industry guidance and leadership; raising industry standards and professionalism; fostering continuous professional development for the attraction and retention of agency talent; promoting commercial creativity and its effectiveness; and serving as the government’s principal information source and advisor on advertising,” said Andrew Lee.

“Under our stewardship, the 4As Council is resolute in our focus on advocating the value of Advertising Agencies amidst the constantly changing nature of the marketing communications industry, and to do so we must welcome new personalities with fresh perspectives in leadership roles,” he added.

Commenting on Khaidi’s appointment as the Association’s new Vice President, Mr Lee said “Khaidi’s invaluable expertise and knowhow as a seasoned pro in the advertising industry will be key in contributing to the acceleration of 4As initiatives and missions.”

Both Andrew and Khaidi will work jointly with other Council members and Dato’ Johnny Mun, Managing Director of Oxygen Advertising and 4As Senior Advisor, as well as Khairudin Rahim, Chief Executive Officer of 4As, to accomplish the Association’s objectives.

The election also sees the induction of nine new Council Members which include:

Grey Worldwide

Publicis Communications

Naga DDB

TBWA Kuala Lumpur

Highlights of 4As achievements in 2018 include the Association’s continuous advocacy against unethical pitch demands where rogue advertisers demand ownership of Agency ideas and work; retaining its partnership with the Chartered Institute for Practitioners of Advertising (IPA) UK, to equip advertising practitioners with leading-edge industry knowledge; and the runaway success of the inaugural Kancil Festival, which attracted over 300 delegates across the creative eco-system.

Following the election, 4As has pledged to continue nurturing the advertising sector as a force for good and a driver of economic growth, whilst working closely with various government ministries, regulatory bodies, tertiary institutions, and the business press.
