Alex Lubar to take over from Charles Cadell as McCann Worldgroup APAC president
Alex Lubar, CEO of McCann Worldgroup’s London office, will be moving to the Asia-Pacific region and replacing Charles Cadell as APAC president – Mumbrella has learnt.
Lubar was understood to have expressed a desire to move on from the London operations in February and the network was looking for a suitable next opportunity for him.
In a statement to Mumbrella, McCann Worldgroup confirmed the development.
An agency spokesperson said: “It should be no surprise that McCann Worldgroup always looks for career opportunities for our best people and when Charles Cadell approached (McCann Worldgroup chairman and CEO) Harris Diamond about the idea of transitioning from his regional role over the next year, Alex Lubar was the obvious choice.
“He will be relocating to the region before the end of the year.”
Lubar joined the network in 2012 as chief marketing officer for McCann Worldgroup North America. He went on to be the global CMO for McCann Worldgroup, before shifting to London as CEO in 2016.
Cadell is a veteran of the region having previously worked in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and India with agencies like Leo Burnett, Arc Worldwide and Lowe Lintas.
He joined McCann Worldgroup in 2011 and has, for the last three years, been Japan representative director and APAC president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup. He is expected to remain with McCann Worldgroup.
What difference does it make ? McCann once considered one of the powerhouse of IPG is [Edited under Mumbrella’s community guidelines] from its glory days.
They have shut down in some markets and given it’s business on a platter to their management to own and run it.
Even Mediabrands, it’s own sister company that supposedly focuses on media has [Edited under Mumbrella’s community guidelines] creative offerings than McCann. So sad to see an iconic brand fade.
Farewell Charles and you are a part of the rare few who knew how to run the biz in Asia.
