Starhub VP of brand and marketing communications Rod Strother leaves – replacement announced

Starhub’s vice president of brand and marketing communications Rod Strother will leave the telecom firm this month to pursue personal interests. He will be replaced by Mei Cheong who joins as vice president of brand and marketing communication, moving from Indonesian telecom company Indosat Ooredoo, where she was group head of brand, marketing and communications.

Elaborating on the development, a spokesperson for Starhub said: “Rod expressed his intention to leave the company last year; however, he agreed to take on the brand and marketing communications role until we find a suitable candidate.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Rod for his invaluable contributions to the company and wish him all the best in the future.”

Strother has been a veteran in the region having first arrived in 1997 to set up Grey Direct in Kuala Lumpur. Apart from a brief stint in Auckland, New Zealand, he has been based in Singapore with roles at Proximity BBDO and Lenovo where he was the director of the digital and social centre of excellence.

Cheong has previously worked with JWT, O&M and independent design and branding agency Dragon Rouge in London. Apart from Indosat, she also worked with Malaysian telecom firm Maxis.
