Uber creates anthem for ICC cricket world cup

Uber has created an anthem called ‘Way-O, Way-O’ to coincide with the ICC cricket world cup. The song is scripted by Ogilvy South and South East Asia chief creative officer and vice chairman India Sonal Dabral, and has been composed, produced and curated by Michael McCleary, who has composed music for several Indian films and ads.

The anthem is a collaboration between several musicians representing countries competing in the cricket world cup: Sanam from India; Jahmiel from Jamaica; Simba Diallo from New Zealand; choir group Khayelitsha United Mambazo from South Africa and Catherine Taylor Dawson  from the United Kingdom.

The song is expected to play on the stadium screens and during game breaks.

Speaking about the anthem, Uber’s chief international business officer, Brooks Entwistle said: “In line with our vision of removing barriers, our first ever cricket anthem celebrates cricket’s spirit of togetherness. Music transcends geographical barriers and will give fans a powerful voice to express love for their favorite team and players.”
