DDB China hires Allen Lee as chief creative officer after year-long search

DDB China has appointed Allen Lee as chief creative officer. Lee moves from digital specialist agency 180 Shanghai where he was chief creative officer and senior vice president.

The chief creative officer post at DDB China was vacant following the departure of Tim Cheng who moved to Grey Singapore as CCO in 2017.

Lee’s mandate includes leading creative teams across DDB, Tribal and TracyLocke in China. This marks his second stint at the agency – he was previously the first creative director at Tribal DDB when the agency started operations in Shanghai.

He has also worked with Ogilvy and founded im2.0 which was subsequently acquired by WPP to become part of the VML network.

Speaking about his appointment, DDB China group CEO and president Danny Mok said: “Allen has a local creative’s unique insight to the China market and consumers, he also understands the operation of international 4A agencies very well.

“He has a genuine gift for delivering insightful creative solutions to clients’ business problems while setting a high bar for creative quality. Over the past year we have been looking for the best CCO candidate for DDB, and I believe Allen fits the role perfectly.
