Former APD chief Tobias Wilson named VP of growth at MediaMonks in Asia Pacific
Former APD chief executive Tobias Wilson has been named Asia Pacific vice president of growth at MediaMonks.
Wilson left APD in May after four years following the acquisition by marketing consultancy Trimantium GrowthOps.
Tobias confirmed his appointment to Mumbrella but was unable to comment further.
On his LinkedIn profile, Tobias describes himself as a “Growth Monk”. He will be based in Singapore.
The appointment comes as MediaMonks, acquired last year by Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital, prepares to ramp up its APAC operations.
Mumbrella has contacted MediaMonks for comment.
Late last year, S4 Capital appointed WPP’s Michel de Rijk as APAC CEO. Speaking to Mumbrella after announcing his move, de Rijk said the company was looking for growth through acquisition in the “content, digital media planning and buying and first party data space”.
“Asia-Pacific as a region is a huge opportunity for S4 Capital,” he said in a Q&A with Mumbrella. “We have set our focus on a few key markets now, but long term we want to be able to serve all our clients in all markets.”
He added that Singapore, S4 Capital’s APAC HQ, already had a MediaMonks operation and enjoyed “great support from government bodies, access to local and regional clients and qualitative talent”.
Prior to joining APD Wilson had co-founded and was managing director of creative agency @ccomplice, which was acquired by APD. He also has spells at DWA and McCorkell & Associates earlier in his career.
Wilson was chairman of the then Interactive Advertising Bureau Singapore between 2015 and 2017.
Great fit for all concerned – good luck Tobias!
