PHD Indonesia wins the Indosat Ooredoo account for two years

PHD Indonesia has won the account for Indosat Ooredoo, an Indonesia based telecom company, with over 53.3 million subscribers.

The pitch began in the first quarter of 2019. PHD’s “unique talent and bespoke approach for managing the telco’s traditional and digital media duties” was cited as a factor that gave it an edge in the pitch. The two year assignment could be extended by another year before the next review.

The announcement:

Indosat Ooredoo has appointed PHD Indonesia as its Agency of Record following a competitive multi-agency pitch. The decision sees the Omnicom Media Group entity take on the full media brief for Indonesia’s second largest telco, with upwards of 53.3 million subscribers.

Indosat Ooredoo commenced its search for a new agency partner in Q1 2019 and the market review saw agencies from all major holding groups in Indonesia take part, with three making it to the final round. PHD’s appointment was the result of the agency’s unique talent and bespoke approach for managing the telco’s traditional and digital media duties.

Speaking on the decision, Vikram Sinha, Chief Operating Officer at Indosat Ooredoo, commented: “We were looking for an agency that we can build a partnership based on trust and longevity with. PHD’s fresh and straightforward approach stood head and shoulders above the rest at the end of the day. Throughout the review, the agency clearly articulated its vision and roadmap for our brand, demonstrating how we can work towards a common mission as one team. We are excited to work with the agency and look forward to breaking fresh ground together for Indosat Ooredoo in Indonesia.”

Rajat Basra, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Indonesia, added: “We are incredibly proud of the trust placed in us by the senior leadership team at Indosat Ooredoo and look forward to building on this foundation in the years to come. During the pitch process, PHD’s unique challenger approach truly shone bright amidst the competition and demonstrated how the agency can Find a Better Way for Indosat Ooredoo’s communications strategy in Indonesia. Given the strong cohesion and chemistry between the teams, I am confident they will achieve some incredible things together.”

The appointment is effective immediately and spans two years with the option to renew for an additional year before the next review.
