Former Lazada marketing chief Jean Thomas joins Pomelo as CMO

Omnichannel fashion brand Pomelo has appointed Jean Thomas as its chief marketing officer. Thomas was most recently the CMO of Lazada.

Thomas is the most recent in a series of hires made by Pomelo, which raised a Series B round of funding in Thailand in November 2017.

Pomelo is present across five markets. The Bangkok-based brand expanded into Malaysia last year and Hong Kong and Macau this year, besides opening a store in Singapore. It ships to over 50 countries worldwide.

Speaking about his appointment, Thomas said: “Armed with a background in e-commerce, I am excited to be part of an innovative and rapidly-scaling company guided by the pursuit of an optimal customer experience.

“This stage of Pomelo’s growth presents salient and timely opportunities to build lasting brand relationships with our customers from across the region.”

Pomelo CEO David Jou said: “We are very excited to have Jean join Pomelo. He has the right experience to lead the brand and our marketing teams as we continue to rapidly scale up our business.”

Thomas had left Lazada a few months into his role as CMO, an expansion of his mandate at RedMart. He joined RedMart in 2017 as the director of brand and acquisition marketing. He has previously worked as CMO with Motion Global, an eCommerce company for designer glasses and at Vinomofo, an Australian wine vending startup.
