Publicis Groupe agencies Starcom and Epsilon win global media mandate for Novartis

Starcom and Epsilon from the Publicis Groupe have won the global media duties for Novartis. The other holding companies in the fray were Omnicom, Havas, WPP and Publicis.

Starcom was the incumbent agency in the pitch, having handled the Novartis business since 2010. Epsilon, a technology and platforms company was recently acquired by the Publicis Groupe.

The third party billings for Novartis stand at $519 million according to Comvergence figures.

The assignment covers media planning, buying, data and analytics across 60 markets globally and starts on January 1, 2020.

The win involved creating a separate integrated entity called NovartisONE2 with the goal of combining the power of both organisations and tapping into Publicis Groupe’s expertise in healthcare marketing.

Speaking about the win, Starcom Worldwide global brand president John Sheehy said: “Just as Novartis seeks to reimagine medicine, we too seek to reimagine and transform how we deliver data-driven marketing strategies for our clients.

“Rooted in a data-led, digital-first approach, NovartisONE2 unites Starcom and Epsilon to deliver capability that is agile, collaborative and relentlessly focused driving business outcomes, along with delivering personalised experiences at scale for Novartis’ complex and evolving consumers.”
