Saurabh Saksena exits Wunderman Thompson Malaysia to join Red Fuse India

Saurabh Saksena has left Wunderman Thompson Malaysia as its CEO to take over as president of the India operations of Red Fuse, a WPP agency dedicated to Colgate-Palmolive. Saksena will be based in Mumbai.

This marks his return to India after a near three year stint in Kuala Lumpur. He started as managing director of J Walter Thompson Malaysia. He then took charge of a unique structure put together in Malaysia which saw Ogilvy and JWT combine operations under a ‘one agency two brand’ system.

Put in place before the merger that would create Wunderman Thompson, the structure was announced as dissolved this April. New leadership took over at Ogilvy Malaysia.

Saksena was named the CEO at Wunderman Thompson Malaysia. On his LinkedIn bio, he is said to have spent 2018 bringing together talent and business of JWT and Wunderman as a precursor to the formation of Wunderman Thompson.

Speaking about his decision to move, Saksena said: ““What drove me to this role was the chance to work for Colgate, one of the world’s most iconic and valuable brands, and in India, one of the largest and important growth markets.

“The attraction was the opportunity to actively engage in the process of creating business solutions for Colgate-Palmolive in India, an extremely valuable partner for WPP worldwide. I am excited to be part of a very warm and driven team at Colgate-Palmolive and the Red Fuse team here, and globally.”

Mumbrella has reached out to Wunderman Thompson for news of Saksena’s successor at the Malaysia operations of the agency.

His previous experience includes working for Ogilvy, the DDB Mudra Group, Indian publishing house Mid-Day and J Walter Thompson in India.
