Tony Harris named CEO at BBDO Hong Kong as JC Catibog exits the agency

BBDO Japan CEO Tony Harris has left to take charge as CEO of the agency’s Hong Kong office. At BBDO Hong Kong, Harris will have regional management responsibility for the Visa business across Asia.

Harris’s appointment comes in the wake of the departure of JC Catibog who was managing director for BBDO South China and who has left to pursue other opportunities.

Harris first moved to Asia from London to join BBDO Guerrero as CEO in 2011. He is credited with working on the development of the acclaimed ‘It’s More Fun in The Philippines’ campaign.

In 2015, he moved to Tokyo to set up BBDO Japan. Speaking about Harris’s new assignment, BBDO Asia chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Burge said: “Tony is a proven agency leader; one who combines creativity with business acumen.

“As a leader of multiple award-winning creative agencies, his focus has always been about great creative thinking as this leads to impressive business results, and he surrounds himself with the very best people to help drive that agenda. I have no doubt this will prove true in Hong Kong.”

Harris added: “My time in Tokyo has been very fulfilling and I am delighted to leave behind a home-grown management team who can continue the development of BBDO Japan.

“I feel equally privileged to take on another leadership role within the BBDO network and continue the drive for Creativity and Effectiveness in a new and exciting territory.”

BBDO Japan will now be led by managing director Hal Ito and general manager Shuhei Ishikawa.
