YouTube global marketing director Lucinda Barlow leaves for senior marketing role at Uber APAC

Lucinda Barlow has joined Uber as senior director of marketing for Asia-Pacific. She will be responsible for the marketing of its products and businesses other than food delivery service Eats, and will be based in Australia.

Barlow moves from YouTube where she was most recently global marketing director. She worked for Google as head of corporate communications and public affairs and later as marketing director for Australia and New Zealand. She has also worked for Symbian, the company that created the operating system for Nokia’s range of smartphones.

Speaking about her decision to move to Uber, Barlow said: “Uber has had an extraordinary impact on the lives and livelihood of millions of people. I’m thrilled to join the Asia-Pacific team to help bring further mobility, freedom and opportunity in this exciting region.”

A note from Uber said: “She is uniquely positioned to lead Uber’s Asia Pacific brand, product marketing and reputation efforts, and support the continued growth of a stellar regional team”.

Barlow is credited with building YouTube’s responsibility marketing function with a special focus on safety, launching its first slate of ad-supported original shows and scaling its culture and trends operation globally.
