Jack Morton Singapore appoints Austin Powers as strategy director and APAC lead of Genuine X
The Singapore office of brand experience agency Jack Morton has appointed Austin Powers as Genuine X Asia Pacific lead and strategy director. Powers moves from Shanghai where he was director of immersive and interactive at brand experience firm Freeman XP.
Powers has also worked for Weber Shandwick and visual effects and animation studio Base FX. In his newly created role at Jack Morton, he will spearhead Genuine X, the agency’s innovation practice in the Asia-Pacific region besides overseeing strategy for its Singapore office.
A note from Jack Morton said: “As Genuine X Asia-Pacific lead, he will help clients across the region create extraordinary experiences by harnessing the opportunities presented at the intersection of emerging technology, content and data.”
Powers will report to Jack Morton Singapore managing director and senior vice president Charles Robinson and to global head of Genuine X Damian Ferrar.
Powers experience spans fine art, film and marketing. He has also co-founded Loud Ocean, a non-profit organisation that supports ocean conservation.
Speaking of his appointment, Ferrar said: “Austin’s diverse experience and unique strategic talent is a fantastic addition to the Genuine X team, which is focused on fuelling creativity and innovation to push the boundaries of brand experience.

Robinson said: “Our industry, audience expectations, and brand needs, are constantly evolving. Austin’s unique experience will help our clients find innovative strategies to engage their audience and create meaningful connections.”
Parallel to Powers’ appointment, the agency has launched Genuine X Academy, an initiative that gives its employees the chance to apply for a placement within the GenuineX team.
