Dr Mumbo

50 words when five would do

Has it been a long day?

Then spare a thought for journalists who have to hack their way through press releases like this first thing on a Monday.

This is just the first sentence in the release.

Dhaka, May 20, 2013 – Creinse Limited, a leading brand innovation, music and entertainment company in Bangladesh, today announced that it has secured a brand license and program license agreement with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia, a division of Viacom Inc., a leading provider of ‘glocal’ entertainment content, to initiate MTV program syndication in Bangladesh.

Phew. Fifty words in one sentence. Whatever happened to the snappy intro?

Dr Mumbo suggests putting company descriptions in the note to editors section of the release, where they belong, or else making grumpy journalists even grumpier.
