Atsuo Ishida has been appointed by PR agency Edelman in Japan to jointly head up its digital offering.

The announcement:

May 17, 2013, TOKYO – Edelman today announced that it has hired Atsuo Ishida as the co-head of its Digital practice in Japan, effective immediately. The new hire will further enhance the firm’s service to clients and expand its rapidly-growing Digital practice in Japan, which in FY12 grew by 128 percent.

Ishida was previously at Dentsu and Dentsu PR, where he planned and launched marketing PR campaigns for eight years. He has experience specializing in content creation and digital media outreach for a variety of domestic and international clients in industries such as entertainment and food and beverage. He has also conducted re-branding surveys with a focus on social media presence.

Ross Rowbury, president of Edelman Japan, said, “Having someone of Atsuo’s caliber and depth of experience in the Japanese market will enable our fast-growing Digital practice to provide an even broader range of services to both our international and domestic clients. Ishida’s expertise in social listening polls for political campaigns is especially relevant given the recent deregulation of the use of social media platforms by political candidates in Japan. I greatly look forward to the high-value-added work Atsuo will produce for our current and future clients.”

Ishida has also consulted on programs for hiring digital crises and worked on the launch of some of the first digital word-of-mouth programs in the Japanese market.
