Edelman appoints MD for digital unit in China

Janet DaiEdelman has hired former WPP executive Janet Dai to run its digital operation in China.

Dai joins the agency from Soho, Beijing, where she was managing director. Her previous agencies include Wunderman, Grey and OgilvyOne.

She will report to report to Daniel J. Edelman China Group CEO Steven Cao, and will be based in Beijing.

Cao said: “Janet’s appointment is another step for us toward continuing to enhance our China talent deployment strategy, as we see talent as the key driver of our business growth.”

“Together with Edelman Digital’s longstanding success globally, we are building a solid digital brand and offering in China as part of our overall strategy. Edelman Digital will be a horizontal business driver for all of DJE China Group’s practices and bring tremendous value to our clients in the current media landscape.”

In a press release, Edelman claimed to have the world’s largest digital operation in a PR network, with 16 per cent of its revenues derived for digital work.
