Starcom backs TEDxKL

Media agency Starcom has announced it is sponsoring conference TED for the third year in a row in Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur July 31 2013 – For the third consecutive year in a row, Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) Malaysia will continue to partner TEDxKL for its 2013 event.

As its official communications partner for the third year running SMG will promote the event among national and regional media outlets to support the running of the annual conference.

TEDxKL will be celebrating its fifth consecutive annual conference this year in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The event has its roots with the introduction of some of the most fascinating thinkers and doers to the world stage to share their experiences and insights with a wider audience and has seen local and international speakers including the late Yasmin Ahmad – Malaysia’s’ renowned film director, leadership expert Roshan Thiran, Pete Teo – producer of 15 Malaysia project, Durren Shahnaz – CoFounder of IIX Asia, and Jamal Raslan – Poetry Slam Winner among others.

Themed “Life Hacking”, TEDxKL 2013 promises to solve everyday problems in a clever or non-obvious way by using a novelty method to increase productivity and efficiency in all walks of life.

TEDxKL will feature an eclectic line-up of speakers prepared to share their untold stories including serial entrepreneur Peter Sage, chairman of Space Energy Group, jazz vocalist Cheryl Tan, guitarist-composer.

Az Samad who has appeared in 16 CDs and Red Hong Yi the artist-architect.

Other speakers will include a survivor of the US prison system, a standup comedian, an award-winning photographer, mathematician looking to invent glowing plants with the hope replacing traffic lights, a founder of digital manufacturing by developing 3D printing, and an inventor of rubber technologies with commercial significance.

TEDxKL is expecting 1,800 attendees this year beating its 800-strong crowd last year.
