Cheil has hired an executive from drugs company Astra Zeneca to lead its digital marketing practice in Southeast Asia.

Chul Lim, who was AZ’s digital innovation manager, joins the Korean agency network as regional digital marketing director based in Singapore.

The moves marks a return to Cheil for Lim, who was previously global lead of Cheil’s Social Media Centre based in Seoul.

He comes in partly to replace Simon Xue, Cheil’s regional social media director, who is leaving Singapore to move to Beijing, Mumbrella reported in September.

Lim will report to CS Park, the president of Cheil’s Southeast Asian regional HQ.

Park said: “The appointment of Lim represents our commitment to having the expertise to develop campaigns and ideas centered around digital. Being a pioneer in the digital marketing area, Lim brings with him 14 years of experience, full of “how to” ideas.”

“I am confident that he will be an integral part of Cheil as we continue bolster our digital offer that spans offline, online and mobile,” he said.

Lim, who has also worked at Cisco Systems and IDA, commented: “It’s really exciting to be back at Cheil, this time with more focus on regional responsibility. I’m looking forward to helping the region embed digital across all disciplines and to help drive forward an enviably integrated offer”.
