New AMEC chair Marion McDonald: ‘only genuine measurement will validate role of PR’

Ogilvy PR measurement specialist Marian McDonaldMarian McDonald has been appointed chair of the Asia arm of the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication.

McDonald, who is MD of strategy and measurement at Ogilvy PR Asia Pacific, takes over from John Croll, CEO of iSentia, who will remain a member of the AMEC board and APAC leadership team.

“I am known for my views that only genuine measurement will validate the role of public relations in business strategy, and was therefore thrilled to see John Croll establish the APAC chapter of AMEC in 2011,” said McDonald.

“Over 15 years working across Asia Pacific has given me a good sense of what we need to do to ‘make measurement matter’ and engage PR professionals at different stages in this journey”, she said.

David B. Rockland, International Chair of AMEC and CEO Ketchum Change, said: “We thank John Croll for the tremendous job he has done establishing the Chapter over the last two years including the inaugural APAC Measurement Summit in Hong Kong.”

“AMEC is growing fast and we are keen to further develop in the important Asia Pacific region. We are delighted Marion will lead us moving forward and know she will bring a tremendous energy to this role,” he said.
