Criteo releases data on how to increase the lifespan of an app

Programmatic trading firm Criteo has released an infographic on how to lengthen the lifespan of an app.

Some of the highlights of the data include:

  • Investment in mobile apps is expected to grow by 157% by 2015.
  • Although investment in smartphone and tablet applications continues to rise, actual app usage hasn’t caught up with the number of downloads – 2 out of 3 apps downloaded are never used (63%).
  • Retailers who develop apps with ‘store mode’ see 5 times more engagement.
  • App installation has grown by 30% between 2011-2013.
  • There was a 94.3% increase in purchases made through mobile during Cyber Monday 2013 vs. Cyber Monday 2012
  • The Travel sector has been faster than any other to take advantage of the opportunities posed by smartphone and tablet apps.
  • Travel apps are downloaded more in the summer, but only one in four are used – the window of opportunity for promoting downloads is from March to May when 16% more downloads were used by customers planning summer vacations.
