Prudential Asia hires WPP’s Michael McComb as director of brand and advertising

Michael McComb, who provided strategic branding counsel for WPP’s big banking clients in Asia, has returned to the client-side and a job at Prudential.

McComb, who was international strategy lead for WPP’s Team Bank of America Merrill Lynch for almost three years, has joined Prudential Corporation Asia as director of brand, advertising and research based in Hong Kong.

A WPP spokesperson said that since the majority of the business McComb was responsible is handled from the US, the role would not be replaced.

As a client, McComb will now work closely with WPP ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, which was behind the  ‘Prudential. Always listening. Always understanding’ campaign at the beginning of the year.

Before joining WPP, McComb was head of branding and services at the Hong Kong Jockey Club for just under two years. He also worked in the marketing department of the South China Morning Post as director of marketing and communications.
