Motorbike brand tells Indian women: Why should boys have all the fun?

A motorbike company is the latest brand in India to celebrate personal freedoms for women in a new ad campaign featuring Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt.

In the 60-second commercial for the new Hero Pleasure, a sub-brand of Hero Motor Corp, Bhatt zooms about the countryside on her bike evading the advances of men.

The agency behind the campaign was FCB Ulka.

The ad launches in the same week that DDB Mudra launched a positive body image campaign for women’s magazine Femina, with the slogan ‘Be unstoppable’.

Also this week, an ad for Indian telco AirTel caused a stir on social media for featuring a company boss who is a woman, but who also goes home to cook the family meal. The company was accused of mixed messaging, and being both progressive and regressive in its treatment of women.
