Video multichannel network Commercialize TV, which was founded a year ago by the former digital strategy director at News Limited, has hired Lisa Bjorksten as global chief content officer with a focus on the Chinese market.

Bjorksten, a former News Limited and Fairfax journalist and women’s magazine editor, joins from Jurlique International, where she was global digital director and introduced the Australian cosmetics brand to China.

She comes on board soon after Laura Gordon, who joined from Omnicom Media Group to lead APAC sales.

Bjorksten called video the “new frontier of content” and said she was joining Commercialize TV for its global outlook and plans for China.

The rise of her role, the chief content officer, reflected the “value in and power of storytelling to audiences and advertisers,” Bjorksten said in a press release.

“Curation of great content is as vital as ensuring that content’s compelling – there’s a glut of video out there, how do users – of different demographics, in different regions – discover it, engage with it and stay tuned in? That’s our focus,” she said.

CTV’s founder, Craig Galvin, said that Bjorksten’s role would be geared towards creating content that can be tailored for diverse markets.

“Lisa has a fantastic creative spirit and joins a brilliant team continuing to build momentum in the marketplace as we strive to be the preeminent digital video network in Asia,” he said.

CTV now has offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, Beijing and New York.
