TBWA\Singapore reveals ‘a different Paris’ in new global film for Airbnb

TBWA\Singapore has created a new global ad campaign for Airbnb, the online lodging service, including a film featuring a zoetrope that took three months to make.

The ad, which was shot in Sydney, centres on an Asian woman staying in Paris who is introduced to another side to the French capital by her host, Andre. Different models were used in different versions of the ad depending on the target market.

The ad is to run as a 30-second and 60-second spot on video, mobile and social channels where Airbnb’s audience is most active. Publishers across the region will include Tencent, YouTube, Naver and Yahoo! Japan as well as social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WeChat.

The agency has produced a behind-the-scenes video which shows how the film was made, including the construction of the zoetrope, which took 2,340 hours to make.

“This film should live on way beyond a 30-second or a 60-second film,” said Matthias Schueking, head of marketing for Airbnb Asia Pacific in the film.
