BBC strikes co-production deal with China’s Mango TV

Mango TVBBC logoBBC Worldwide has struck a deal with China’s Mango TV that will see the two broadcasters explore co-production opportunities to reach Chinese and global audiences.

The BBC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mango TV, the internet video platform for Hunan television and radio, with the agreement to focus on co-production and format opportunities in factual entertainment, dramas and films.

“We are delighted to be cementing our relationship with Mango TV by announcing this exciting new phase of our long term alliance and look forward to working together towards the exchange of expertise and creation of new business models across media spaces in both China and  globally,” said Paul Dempsey, president, global markets for BBC Worldwide.

“With the establishment of strategic partnership, we hope to achieve a win-win situation in both China and global content markets for both Mango TV and BBC Worldwide,” added Ding Cheng, Mango TV’s newly appointed CEO.
