Singapore, 18 April, 2016 – Wego.com, the leading travel search site in the Asia Pacific and Middle East, today announced their collaboration with leading smartphone company Xiaomi, which ranks first in China.

“Xiaomi are leaders in the smartphone field and we’re very excited that they’ve selected Wego’s travel app for Android to be pre-installed on over 500,000 new devices, to be distributed in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore,” said Honey Mittal, Vice President of Mobile for Wego.

“The popularity of Wego’s travel app in these and other markets resulted in Wego being frequently featured in app stores,” Mittal added. “Quality, good content and a great user experience are paramount to Xiaomi which is apparent in their devices, and we’re so pleased that they also recognised these outstanding features in Wego’s travel app.”

Wego’s travel app is consistently featured in both Google Play and iTunes stores in the travel category, ranking in the top five throughout the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

“Travel audiences in these markets have overwhelmingly confirmed their preference for planning and booking travel on a smartphone device, and Xiaomi’s pre-installation of Wego’s highly popular travel app is an acknowledgement of our continued success in the mobile field.”

“Wego has invested in a highly talented and productive development team showing the high level of commitment to product enhancement and the user experience,” Mittal continued. “This commitment is reflected by Xiaomi in their smartphones, which are very popular in the same markets that Wego enjoys a strong presence.”
