Singapore startup GoBear appoints Amelia Lim as first marketing director for Malaysia

Amelia LimSingapore-based price comparison insurance site GoBear has appointed its first head of marketing in Malaysia a few weeks after launching in the country.

Amelia Lim joins the startup from PR film Perseid Consultancy where she was managing partner.

She brings 18 years of experience into the role, including a stint as marketing manager of Singapore club The Butter Factory and agency-side with PR firm Go Communications.

GoBear, which launched in March last year in Singapore and earlier this month in Malaysia, recently appointed Havas to handle its media around the region. The business is also up and running in the Philippines and Thailand. PR, social and digital are handled by Bonsey Jaden in Malaysia.

The price comparison site promises to give consumers unbiased advice on financial products and be the “TripAdvisor of finance”. The company has appointed Iskandar Ezzahuddin, a former vice president of products for Malaysia Airlines and GM of U for Life, as country director for Malaysia.

“The Malaysia team will be expanding the GoBear portfolio with the aim to ease consumers’ needs when it comes to choosing financial products that are best for them in an unbiased and transparent manner,” he said.
