UNHCR hires Edelman for Hong Kong PR
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has appointed Edelman as its PR agency in Hong Kong.
The announcement:
Hong Kong, June 20, 2016 – UNHCR Hong Kong, a sub-office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has appointed Edelman, a leading global communications marketing firm, as its marketing agency in Hong Kong.
UNHCR is recording the highest levels of forced displacement on record leading up to World Refugee Day on 20 June. Edelman has launched #itstartswithus, an integrated campaign with digital marketing at the heart, to drive conversation in Hong Kong and Macau and generate leads and donors for UNCHR. Donations will be used to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees all over the world.
Edelman is telling this story primarily through targeted and optimized social media content, and online channels such as a mobile website (www.itstartswithus.hk).
The campaign also includes PR, billboards, print, direct mail, EDMs, and search engine marketing – all elements are being managed in-house by Edelman.
“It’s an honor to support UNHCR Hong Kong and its important mission to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees,” said Adrian Warr, incoming Managing Director at Edelman Hong Kong. “This issue just doesn’t seem to be on the radar in Hong Kong, and it’s a tragedy. People need to take notice and take a stand. It’s not just a privilege to be doing this campaign with UNHCR – it’s a duty.”
The UNHCR campaign celebrates World Refugee Day on 20 June with Hong Kong and Macanese audiences, and honors the strength, courage, and resilience of millions of refugees around the world.
