RED2 Digital takes Pocari Sweat Vietnam digital media account from PHD

Independent agency RED2 Digital has won the digital media account for Japanese energy drinks brand Pocari Sweat, in Vietnam. The agency will take over the digital media planning and buying account from PHD Vietnam – with the remit also covering social media, search-engine optimisation, analytics and  content development. 

RED2 Digital was formed less than a year ago in Hoi Chi Min by former iProspect Singapore managing director Luke Janich. The Pocari Sweat account is the agency’s biggest  win to date, Janich told Mumbrella Asia.

“When we launched we had a lot of local clients, but this win is by far our biggest,” said the company founder and CEO. “It’s great given that we are only in the first year of opening. Vietnam is the fastest growing economy in South East Asia. There is great talent here and a lot of clients in the market.”

He added: “We are honoured to be partnering with a brand that’s as iconic as Pocari Sweat. The team there are ambitious, passionate and they understand the importance of digital in today’s world. For marketing at the moment, this is so important – and it means we are going to have an incredible adventure ahead.”

The agency currently has a team of 17 people, but plans to hire at least three more staff during the next few months. Pocari Sweat launched in Vietnam in 2012 and is owned by the parent company Otsuka Thang Nutrition.

The brand’s managing director Rich Pham said: “RED2’s strong understanding of the digital world and their impeccable data analysis are what we’ve been looking for.”

PHD Vietnam, which has held the Pocari account for the past two years, will continue to handle traditional media planning and buying.
