Havas Singapore promotes ECD Andrew Hook – with no plans to directly replace him
Havas Singapore has promoted its executive creatives director Andrew Hook to the role of chief creative officer.
The promotion marks the end of the ECD role at Havas as the agency does not intend to replace him, but has said it will hire more senior creatives instead.
Andrea Conyard, CEO of Havas Singapore, said: “This promotion is indicative of the growth in our agency and we will be looking to re-organise our creative division to keep up with this momentum.
“While there will be no direct replacement for the ECD role, we will be expanding our creative division with senior appointments in the next few months.”
Havas recently announced plans to globally merge its creative and media divisions into one P&L. The move saw a number of leadership manoeuvres in Asia-Pacific, including Havas Creative Group’s chief executive for APAC Mike Amour becoming CEO across the group’s 79 regional offices.
Hook, an industry veteran of 16 years, has held the ECD role since 2014, when he joined the agency from DDB Singapore.
In his new role, Hook will be responsible for the creative output of Havas Singapore and will continue to work across new and existing clients, the agency said in statement.
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Hook started his career at boutique shop Generator and moved to Singapore in 2005 to join boutique agency Generator. Havas has not revealed who will replace Hook as ECD.
Conyard said: “Andrew has played a critical role in shaping the creative culture of Havas Singapore and our recent account wins and awards are a testimony to his leadership. His commitment to creative excellence and his collaborative spirit will prove to be invaluable as we evolve our unique Havas Village model in Singapore.”
Hook added: “It has been an incredible journey at Havas so far. I have been truly blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of dedicated and passionate people right across the agency. And I am humbled that the leadership team has put their faith in me to help lead the Havas family in the next chapter.”
Well deserved! Andrew is possibly the most hardworking, nicest and non-political creative head ever.
ReplyThough… I hope the Havas bosses will equip him with enough reliable Creative Directors / Seniors that are equally as motivated and hardworking as he is. So Andrew can get a chance to be a proper CCO and not need to creatively micromanage everything as always.
why would you need a ecd and a cco in such a small and irrelevant shop anyway?
Have you seen the work they do?
seems to me like this promotion (and small raise) is just to dissuade someone who might be entertaining thoughts of quitting.
ReplyWhy did they interview other names if the perfect person was already under their roof?
ReplyLooks like they have hired some clueless regional cco above him….and this was all just a bit of titular enhancement to get him to stay.
ReplyA guy as open and harmless as andrew doesn’t deserve the current situation…he’s about a million times smarter and more talented so hope he has the smarts and good fortune to stay out of the sights of this regional cco. Looking at this individual’s past gigs the politest way I can put it is that this person is basically the direct opposite of King Midas.
ReplyAmazing how far one can go with just 3 probono ads for a local bicycle shop.
