Vivo launches ‘perfect selfie, perfect Ramadan’ campaign

Chinese smartphone giant Vivo is tapping into the spirit of Ramadan with a new campaign featuring its moonwalking mascot Mini V trying to help people take the right selfie.

Released in Indonesia, the two-minute commercial shows Mini V  attempting to brighten his neighbourhood’s day with acts of kindness, balloons and its Michael Jackson-inspired moves.

The video takes a darker turn when a gang attacks the mascot in a rain-soaked alleyway, shattering his confidence.

However, as the community breaks their fast, the neighbours rally around Mini V, showing him a selfie that says ‘Kangen Mini-V’ (Miss you Mini-V). The ad ends on a happy note as the mascot dons the suit once more.

Created by Y&R Indonesia, the ‘Perfect Selfie, perfect Ramadan’ campaign has so far reached more than five million views on YouTube.

Aimed at promoting Vivo’s V5s camera, the ad has also been released on Facebook and as a television commercial in Indonesia.
