Singtel teases National Day film featuring voice of movie star Lim Kay Tong
Singtel is preparing to launch its first major National Day film as part of a month-long integrated campaign celebrating Singapore’s 52nd anniversary.
The Singaporean telco has released a series of images teasing the two-minute film to be shown on National Day. The video will centre on the idea of Singaporeans “powering on” after the National Day spirit “fizzles out” following the celebrations.
Conceptualised by the recently appointed agency BBH alongside Singtel, the video will feature a voiceover from veteran Singaporean actor Lim Kay Tong.
Mumbrella Asia understands that the video is intended as a tribute to Singaporeans the country’s Majulah spirit. The video will encourage Singaporeans to keep powering on after the birthday party finishes.

Earlier this week, Singtel released a number of print ads showing portraits of Singaporeans and their aspirations on banners and posters at bus stops and on social media. The images were shot by photographer Chia Aik Beng and given a Facebook-style filter of the Singaporean flag.
Singtel vice president of group strategic communications and brand Lian Pek said: “Often times, the spirit of National Day tends to fizzle out shortly after. We hope our campaign will serve as an awareness ribbon of sorts to gently remind ourselves to keep flying the Singapore flag even after the birthday party.”
Last month, Singtel rival Star Hub released its own National Day film featuring the ‘I have a dream’ speech by American civil rights campaigner Martin Luther King.
