Mongoose closes Men’s and Women’s Health in Malaysia

South East Asian media house Mongoose Publishing is to end its run with lifestyle magazines Men’s Health and Women’s Health in Malaysia, after just two years.

The Kuala Lumpur and Singapore-based company has held the licences for the international fitness and wellbeing magazines since 2015, when it took them over from Blu Inc.

However, during an era of plummeting print advertising expenditure and falling magazine sales globally, the company will publish its final editions in September.

Twelve people worked across both titles, including editor-in-chiefs Eugene Phua on Men’s Health and Sueann Chong on the women’s magazine. Mumbrella Asia understands the company is attempting to redistribute the team across other titles.
