Louis Boswell replaces Christopher Slaughter as CASBAA CEO

CASBAA has appointed former Discovery Networks Asia Pacific manager Louis Boswell as its new chief executive officer.

Louis Boswell

Boswell, who currently runs the Singapore-based media group Da Vinci Media, will officially replace the long-running incumbent Christopher Slaughter from January next year.

Slaughter previously led the pay TV industry body for five years before announcing his resignation in September.

His successor, Boswell, has previously worked for ESPN Star Sports, BBC, AETN All Asia Networks across Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

Most recently, Boswell was the general manager for Da Vinci Media, which he joined from Discovery Networks Asia Pacific in May this year.

“Louis is one of the most well respected senior commercial executives in the content distribution industry in Asia. We are proud to have him leading our Association. Louis’s track record of leadership and insight make him an ideal fit to work strategically with in-country business and government leaders to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as the industry continues to invest, innovate and evolve at an unprecedented pace”, said Joe Welch, chair of the CASBAA board and senior vice president at 21st Century Fox.

Boswell added: “The industry is changing and it is paramount that its representative body keeps up and is reflective of those changes. I believe the need for CASBAA is greater now than it ever has been and I look forward to making sure that we lead the industry from the front as we confront those changes.”
