Y&R claims it will ‘win the future’ with trio of new appointments – including Andrea Conyard
WPP agency Y&R has claimed it is “transforming” its business with a trio of senior management appointments and the creation of a new chief growth officer role in order to “win the future”.
Former Havas Creative Singapore CEO Andrea Conyard will join the WPP agency in September as South East Asia chief executive officer and chief growth officer. He will lead operations across Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
Also arriving from Digitas Hong Kong will be Damien Tew. He will become managing director for China and will focus on the Greater Bay Area, which Y&R labelled as “the world’s next Silicon Valley”.
Completing the trio, former Y&R general manager for Hong Kong Beverly Ho has been promoted to head of regional accounts and business development with immediate effect. She has been with Y&R for more than a decade.
All three will report directly to the agency’s Asia president Chris Foster. “The winning packages of the future no longer fit in the rigid and fragile containers of the past,” said Foster.
“Now is the time for radical optimism inspired and fuelled by the exciting interface between human insight and technology, which when harnessed properly, will drive the heart of business to new heights.”
Since joining Y&R in November 2017, Foster has – said the agency – created a “culture of winning” through the practice of “creative intelligence”.
“At Y&R we believe that the companies and brands of the future will need to seamlessly connect community, sustainability and purpose to create meaning for people,” added Foster.
“Creative Intelligence is where technology meets human ingenuity to produce ground-breaking results for clients. We see this as the future, working to expand our capabilities and approach to technology with our eyes firmly fixed on enhancing our offerings across ecommerce, data analytics and user experience, in line with the exciting technological developments we are seeing in the market.
“We are delighted to welcome Andrea and Damien to the Y&R family and congratulate Beverly on her well-deserved promotion as the first phase in our transformative journey. Their expertise and deep knowledge of the Asian markets will be instrumental in helping us and our clients to realise our ambitions for the future.”
Y&R has 189 offices in 93 countries around the world with clients that include Bel Brands, Campbell’s Soup Company, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, Dell, Telefonica and Xerox.
