Reprise picks up Gold Kancil Award for ‘The Other Sanders’ KFC campaign

Reprise, the full-service digital integrated performance media marketing agency under the IPG Mediabrands network has picked up the coveted Golden Kancil award for the KFC campaign “The Other Sanders” at the recent Kancil Awards 2018.

The announcement:

It was a landslide win for Reprise, and the first time the agency was participating in these awards. Besides the Golden Kancil, the agency won a total of 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze and 5 Merit awards to place 6th at the Kancil Awards 2018. The Kancil Awards is Malaysia’s most celebrated creative excellence awards competition, and this is the first time that a non 4A’s agency has won the Golden Kancil, the equivalent of a Grand Prix.

Speaking about the win, Stanley Clement, Managing Director of Reprise said, “This is the first time that an agency that’s part of a media network has won the Golden Kancil, and is a stamp of approval from the industry that the work we are doing here is relevant. We’re also privileged to work with a client who believed in us and the idea.”

Reprise took home 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 2 Merit awards for “The Other Sanders” campaign for QSR Stores Sdn Bhd., created to commemorate International Women’s Day this year. The famous face of KFC’s Colonel was replaced for the day with that of his wife Claudia who played an unsung, yet significant role in the success of KFC, and this story was shared across various touchpoints.

Chief Marketing Officer of KFC, Angelina Villanueva said, “The Reprise team demonstrated their hunger for the idea to push something that was not part of our marketing calendar. They proved their passion and belief in how we could take this idea forward, and it was the perfect story to tell. What was ultimately a simple logo takeover caused the whole world to notice.” QSR Stores Sdn Bhd. also went on to win Advertiser of the Year.

The other campaigns that took home awards for Reprise included “Rumah Epik Fantastik” for TNB, “How KFC Double Downed A Burger Monolith” and “Not Rendang”, both campaigns for QSR Stores Sdn Bhd.

IPG Mediabrands’ other creative agency Ensemble Worldwide also took home 2 Silver, 4 Bronze and 8 Merit awards on the night.
