Bloomberg develops The Bulletin news feed sourced by artificial intelligence technology

Bloomberg has created a new feature on its mobile app which uses artificial intelligence to display a one-sentence synopsis of breaking news stories from around the world.

The Bulletin has been built by Bloomberg Media’s innovation hub, Bhive, with AI technology scouring content from its 2700 journalists and analysts in 120 countries.

The personalised content will bring up the top three stories each time the app is opened. Users can tap on the story snapshot to read the full article.

Bloomberg said the technology uses language processing to scan the content, and does not rely on typical keyword and semantic analysis. It then returns the salient details in one sentence.

The news service said the launch of The Bulletin is part of its “long term vision” to rethink how its content is delivered.

“The Bulletin caters for the micro moments for the busy user,” it said. “It makes it easy to get a snapshot of the most timely and important news stories of the moment and presents it in a manner that can be read in less than a minute.”
