McCann Worldgroup judged ‘Agency of the Year’ at the Effie awards in India

McCann Worldgroup India at the Effie awards

McCann Worldgroup India won the Agency of the Year for the second year running at the Effie awards for creative effectiveness. Other big winners were Hindustan Unilever which won Marketer of the Year and Ogilvy India which won the Grand Effie for Indian adhesive brand Fevikwik.

Organised by The Advertising Club of India, the Effie is currently among the most coveted local awards in the country.

McCann won for a range of clients including Mastercard, financial services firm PayTM, Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, homegrown consumer goods company Marico, Ikea and Coca-Cola as well as social and government clients such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Incredible India.

Speaking about the win, McCann Worldgroup’s CEO and CCO for India and chairman for Asia-Pacific Prasoon Joshi said: “I am extremely delighted and proud. What was noteworthy this year was the width and the diverse set of businesses we won the awards across.

“A few may stay in denial but the fact is that McCann today is the topmost agency of India. And I say this confidently, but humbly.

“We have been, bit by bit, building a culture of excellence and are constantly reinventing ourselves without making a big deal out of it.

“McCann India has been on a winning streak for years now and we topped most national and global creative and strategy award shows like Cannes, One Show, Jay Chiat awards and regional ones like Spikes and Adfest.

“On every parameter — be it building key brands, impacting the consumer’s mind, socially conscious work, gathering and growing businesses and talent — McCann India has proven itself.”

McCann Worldgroup India bagged Agency of the Year for the first time in 2018, breaking the duopoly that Ogilvy India and the MullenLowe Lintas group had on the Effies, for a large part of this decade.
