Did you celebrate Alibaba Day? It’s all about ‘family, the future and the Ali spirit’

So folks, yesterday was apparently ‘Ali Day’ – a date on the calendar devoted to celebrating all things Alibaba.

The event came about after the camaraderie shown by staff during the SARS outbreak back in May 2003.

Recounting how staff picked up their desktop computers and worked from home during the disease outbreak, ensuring customers didn’t notice a difference in service despite the adversity, the accompanying video is quite something.

For apparently the event, now in its 15th year, even includes a mock wedding to celebrate the staff who got married in the last 12 months.

Who knew?

“Family, the future and the Ali spirit.” Those are the three things championed on Ali Day, it is said.

Dr Mumbo can’t argue with that.
