Singapore to step up marketing to lure meetings and conference groups

Singapore Tourism Board is to step up its marketing to attract more meetings and incentive groups to the city state as it looks to capitalise on encouraging recent growth in the sector.

The In Singapore Incentives & Rewards (INSPIRE) project will offer a selection of more than 60 complimentary experiences for eligible MICE groups.

The initiative is being promoted in collaboration with 29 Singapore businesses.

The STB said 2.9m people travelled to Singapore for business, meetings, incentives and conferences in 2018, an increase of 12% from 2017.

Revenue generated from the sector climbed 7.2% to S$4.68 billion.

STB deputy chief executive Melissa Ow, said, “We are delighted to launch the global INSPIRE programme on the back of our stellar results for BTMICE visitors to Singapore in 2018.

“Building on the positive reception received for the previous INSPIRE programme that was offered to corporate groups in Southeast Asia and specific regions, the new global INSPIRE includes markets such as the Americas, North Asia, Oceania and more.”

The STB added that experiences have been designed to complement groups’ itineraries and provide “exclusive experiences that showcase the best of what Singapore has to offer”.

To qualify MICE groups should have a minimum of 20 foreign attendees and stay for at least three days in Singapore.
