Govt appoints former BBDO Shanghai MD Alvina Seah as managing director

Singapore-based independent agency Govt has appointed Alvina Seah as managing director. Seah was most recently the managing director of BBDO’s Shanghai operations.

She has previously worked for Proximity BBDO and TBWA in Singapore.

The announcement:

GOVT Singapore has appointed Alvina Seah as Managing Director of the Singaporean independent agency. Together with Co-Founder and CEO of GOVT Leon Lai, Seah will be tasked to lead the agency’s cultural, strategic and financial health, as well as the agency’s key accounts. Currently, the GOVT Singapore’s client list includes OCBC Bank, Tiger Beer Global, Tiger Beer Japan, SATS, Julie’s and NTUC Enterprises.

“In this era, the one constant that the marketing and creative landscape will face, is change. To be part of an agency like GOVT who sees the need for this agility to change makes it an exciting place to contribute to the energy and vigour of the industry.” Seah said.

Seah started her career at Proximity BBDO in Singapore before moving to TBWA Singapore to work on Singapore Airlines and M1 for 5 years. Thereafter, Seah was approached to move to BBDO Shanghai to lead the PepsiCo account, and over the years, has also led key agency clients such as Visa, Gillette, McDonalds, Ali Baba and Master Kong.

In 2016, Seah was promoted to General Manager of EnergyBBDO Shanghai, and within a year, led the agency to win Campaign’s Greater China Social Media Agency of The Year and was named as one of the Women to Watch in Asia Pacific 2018. Seah’s last role was Managing Director of BBDO Shanghai before returning back to Singapore to join GOVT Singapore.

“Seah represents the new breed of agency leaders in our world today. Highly intelligent, street smart and an amazing EQ. You don’t rise to be Managing Director in 9 years in a network agency in a highly competitive market like China by being lousy in your job. In the past 2 months with the agency, she has shown real gravitas and commanded respect from the agency by not being afraid to roll her sleeves up and get to the work. The partners are incredibly excited to be working with Seah to lead GOVT to the next phase of growth,” Lai said.
